Maddie Gaebel, Nate Burress, Hanna Guilfoyle, Emma Cannon, Zoe Murphy, Allyson Gayhart, Kayla Campbell, Riley Williams, Sophia Tolford, Callie Ridenour, Maddie Hoke, and Brooklyn Wilson were selected to have their artwork showcased as part of the Senior Artist Exhibition. These students have proven to be elite artists through their creativity and dedication to the arts. I am honored to have had the pleasure of joining in each of their creative journeys and I am so proud of all they have accomplished.
Due to circumstances out of all of our control we were unable to host the senior exhibition live in the art room. I felt it was still important to honor these talented artists and showcase their work throughout their years at Union County High School. Selected seniors helped in the creation of this online exhibition as part of their remote learning lessons and we are so excited to share it with friends, family, and the community.
Each senior has a page dedicated to them which includes an artist bio, artwork from their high school career, and several prompted selfies to share their future plans, most proud high school moment, what they have missed most while being in quarantine, and something they want to do or achieve before they die. You can locate their pages by clicking on their picture on the home-screen or by clicking more on the above header and scroll down to find each page.
I have been incredibly impressed by my students ability to easily adapt and remain creative and passionate while working from home. To showcase some of the amazing work that has came out of this moment in time I have created a page dedicated to Quarantine Art. This page highlights just two of the projects students created during their time at home. Check out the Quarantine Art page to see some of the highlights.
Rainbows have been seen as symbols of hope throughout the world. Check out the Rainbows for Hope page to see rainbows created by students using recycled materials as well as a tutorial to make your very own rainbow!
Thank You Seniors
Each of you have made a significant impact on myself, the spirit of the art room, and to your peers. You have all helped to further foster my love for teaching and creating. I have so many wonderful memories from field trips, Art Club workshops, Art Shows, critiques, and daily classroom creating and interacting. We have had so many laughs and for some of us tears as well. Each of you have been kind, generous, and a constant supporter for both your classmates and myself and I am thankful for that. You have been a support not only in the classroom but also shared in my many joys in life and in becoming a mother. Thank you for being a part of my journey and letting me share Finn Friday pictures and stories with you. I hope I have provided you with the same level of support and enthusiasm that you have given me for life.
You have each grown so much over the past four years and I am so honored that I was able to be a part of your journey. I have watched you grow both as artists and individuals with so much joy. Through the happy times and hardships each of you have remained determined, passionate, and eager. I am saddened that our time has been cut short but am so glad we were able to collaborate and create such an amazing exhibition of work that truly highlights who each of you are! Thank you for your enthusiasm in helping create this. Each of your pages is a testament to your creativity, work ethic, and unique spirit. I am so so proud of each of you and hope that you also have a sense of pride for all you have achieved...you've earned it.
I look forward to each of your futures and I have no doubt you will all be wildly successful. Follow your dreams with that same determination and passion I have witnessed inside the art room and hold onto your spark!! Thank you class of 2020!!! YOU WILL FOREVER BE IN MY HEART!
